I think the two exercises I really related to and will continue to use will be the Subtle Mind and Meeting Aesclepius. While the others were good, I found trying to remember the phrases to be said a little distracting. The Subtle mind focuses on the breath which is something I can do moving or being still. It can be used to enhance my massages because if my mind is quiet then my massage is more relaxing and communicates quietness of soul to my client. Most of my clients would relate to this exercise because I have them focus on breath during trigger point and acupressure therapy. So for me to share how to use this for other purposes would be easy and they would be open to the exercise.
Meeting Aesclepius really helped me in my worship time I spend with God. Rather than just talking to Him in prayer, to contemplate who He is and what He represents and have that instilled into me is a really great experience. Also, to take time to specifically remember people I loved and respected is a great way to have them with me all the time and to reflect on what they contributed to my life.

I also choose both the subtle mind and the Meeting Aesclepius exercises as well as my favorites. I love how you said that Meeting Aesclepius helps you to relate to God on a different level by being able to reflect on what he stands for. I can definitely see how envisioning God in your mind and what he represents can be beneficial on a deeper level. I also really love the breathing involved in both of these exercises. Because I am relatively new to meditation, being able to focus on breathing first enables both my mind and body to relax simultaneously. After practicing deep breathing, I find I am able to fall asleep faster and feel more energized after my meditation session. Hopefully I will be able to continue to use these practices even after the class is over!

Hi! Aimee, I can't believe we are almost done with this class. I think we have learned a lot of great tools to use personally and professionally. Learning to these breathing techniques will really help in labor!
ReplyDeleteI also chose Meeting Asciepius as one of mine. I was not able to get the Sbutle Mind exercise to work, so I was not able to participate in it.
ReplyDeleteI am very happy that you are able to see both the meditative possiblities of prayer, and that meditation can help you to become even closer to God.

I could not agree with you more. I picked the same two exercises as my favorites as well. I really liked these particular exercises because of the way that they made me feel. I find that I am bringing more positive energy into my daily routine. It is very exciting to have this new skill.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Aaron
Hello Esther,
ReplyDeleteI chose the Subtle Mind and Meeting Asclepius practice too. When you find trying to remember the phrases to be distracting, you might want to consider recording it. I too like the subtle mind because it focuses on the breath, and if our minds are quiet then when we communicate with others it will be transferring this health and wellness to them. That is an excellent move to have your clients focusing on their breath during trigger point and acupressure therapy. When I first had trigger point administered, it used to be painful until I realized that breathing helps ease the pain. It is a definite as far as helping them become open to the exercise. So for me to share how to use this for other purposes would be easy and they would be open to the exercise.
Your meeting with Asclepius made me feel as if I was meeting with God too. Your point is so awesome because as you said, rather than just talking to Him in prayer, but to reflect who He is and what He signifies, and have it instilled into you, is not only a great experience for you, but for me reading you blog. Isn’t wonderful to have the knowledge about mental training?
I encourage everyone to make sure to always use a quiet area as much possible even in our daily affairs. When Jesus went to pray, He always took time away from others to do so, or take people with him that had the same mind to pray. The disciples fell asleep. He asked them if they could not stay up for one hour and pray with him. Being mindful helps us to be proactive instead of reactive. The exercises will definitely work for my clientele because they need to learn that they are their own healers. It will definitely cause them to be more relaxed.
Be blessed, and thanks for sharing your experience for it definitely helped me to commune with the Father.
Hi Aimee,
ReplyDeleteI chose the subtle mind and universal loving kindness. I picked the subtle mind because of the exact same reason that you did due to the focus on respirations. Though you picked Meeting Aesclepius as your second choice, I chose universal loving kindness to focus on more meaningful prayers for the patients who have been plagued with illness, which was similar to your perspective of your time of worship with God. When the weather gets warmer, I will continue to practice the mindful exercises outside rather than indoors. It helped me a lot more to immerse myself in nature. I am glad it was a quiet form of communication towards you and your clients. I hope the practices continue to be a benefit to your life and wish you well towards your goals now and in the future.
